I have Sora FD, Sora STI (R3000) and triple Sora Crankset (30-39-50) that came with the bike, rear mech is also 9 speed Sora. I want to switch the crankset to Deore FC-M591 (26-36-48 or even 22-32-44 if possible) and keep existing Sora FD and STI in place.

I understand the chainline is slightly off but re indexing should take care of it? Also 26-36-48 seems to be close enough to the to match the contour of the Sora FD designed for (30-39-50).

There are few posts where people wanted the opposite of making Deore FD and Crankset work with road STI which doesn't work since the pull ratios of the road shifters and MTB FD does not mix. Although on particular post said Sora STI worked with Altus FD and Deore Cranksets.

What are your thoughts on this? Has anyone tried this?
