Fietsbob's suggestion of tying the spokes is reasonable, as long as it doesn't prevent spoke replacement.

I don't think spokes are likely to break in the middle at the crosses, clicking or not.
The TM-1 chart for converting a reading to kgf has the CX-Ray spoke dimensions on it.
