I suspect Phil Wood isn't "producing" them. They probably have a few on the shelf and they have the plans and materials. They're a machine shop, so if they run low and a customer calls, they just make another. That is why Phil Wood is so expensive. There is no assembly line, no batches of thousands or even hundreds. And why, if you want a component that has "this part" 0.5 cm longer, it just isn't a big seal for them.
