well i fixed this one up and delivered it today, along with this aluminum (peh) Bianchi I found in the trash. sorry I am an idiot and forgot about the forums and did not take pictures of final products. I was too excited to deliver them. - I should ask my friend to send some!
but I managed to get both the hardrock and the bianchi back on the road for less than $20- some cables, a tube, and a rear wheel from Urban ore. ($6 for Araya rim wheel and tire + decent cassette.. love that place). This is why I love old mtb- now a father and son can ride together for a few hours work and $20- and with care and maintenance, it will last a lifetime.
shot of how it started- not so bad now!
