I had the same problem, trying to remember exactly, the inner rim was a basic design 26" wheel

yet a particular 26" tyre wouldn't fit it properly
so i chose other tyres from my huge collection of seconds untill one would play

i'd suggest taking them back to the shop, get the mechanic to take a look, wrong tyres, me thinks
