I'm with ya here, though with quite a few fewer miles and years riding fixed.
IMO, disc brakes might be a good thing on fixed gears used for road training. I can remember a few times during fixed descents where I needed to use the brakes quite a bit to avoid completely spinning out, resulting in extremely hot rims. Disc brakes might promote a bit more laziness, but would eliminate the possibility of blowing up the tire.
