I have an older 99 Specialized Hard Rock Classic that I bought in 2001, barely used, and has been in storage ever since. I really only want to get this bike functional so I can go on bike rides around town with my daughter and perhaps some light trails in the forest preserve.

I'm looking over parts to order at Amazon, and was wondering what are some must replace parts on a bike that has been sitting collecting dust and rust in a garage for the last 17 years? I was thinking the tires, inner tubes, and bicycle chain for sure. What about the brake and shifting cables? I plan on disassembling the bike and cleaning and lubing where needed. Thanks.
