Agree with those that recommended a different rack that doesn't involve the lifting to the roof. If it's a concern now, it won't get better 10 years from now - push-ups and working out notwithstanding :-). Then, being on the subject of aging, it's only a matter of time before you forget it's there when you drive into your garage or some other low-overhead obstacle.
