Short answer is "I don't know." Maybe commuting to work puts you in a grouchier mindset.
I'm frequently surprised by the number of folks who post endlessly about how an aluminum frame feels such and such and a steel frame feels somehow differently. I think that a bicycle is a sum of it's parts and you have to evaluate it as a whole. I doubt anybody can narrow bicycle design down to one or two factors that make it "feel" the way that it does.
I think that you are fortunate to have acquired a bike that feels so good. I doubt most riders are aware of what their "best riding bike" should feel like.
