Schwinn Continental Wheel Bulges by Stem Hole
Hello, Was wondering if anyone has run into an issue with old 27" Schwinn steel wheel rims bulging/wider near the valve stem hole and how they fixed it. This significantly affects braking where the brakes pull harder at the start of the bulge and almost release right after the bulge (the bulge area is about 2 inches long). Since these are steel wheels, and I'd like to keep the bike original, this would seem to be a job fit for the old rubber hammer, channel locks, etc., or some way to bend the rims in at the stem so they're even. This doesn't seem like a purely truing issue, although that would help.
Thoughts/experience?
Thanks,
Ron
