This fails to account for the fact that 100% of humans will die. And with modern engineering little bitty engines can exceed 600 horsepower. Seems to me that some folks forget that 99.9% of these cars do not drive themselves, and that many incidents/wrecks/crashes/you don't like the word accident are caused by how drivers react to the mistakes and whatever of other drivers. Heaven forbid that some little screen toy is involved or that the pedestrian was at fault.

I had to yell at my caseworker Tuesday to stop the clinic's car because two NURSES had a don't walk signal and still darted in from of the vehicle...right at the hospital!

I've had this happen to me twice as a driver myself and I've been bumped when I was sure the driver saw me and I had their attention but nope.

This is not an anti-car site, and advocacy doesn't mean the demise of the automobile is the goal here.

PS Cyclists have also killed pedestrians. Let's be careful out there.

And let's stop talking about statistics so much and more about teaching safety, because statistics, like cameras only record the aftermath.
