I do agree but I have a set of "LBS" built wheels and they are not so good. they are not holding very well. I know on paper they are fine for me but the builders skill is the issue. that is why I am looking elsewhere.
This is a good point. You could look at
Sugar Wheel Works, they only do wheels and have a great reputation.

I have two sets of Velocity wheels and they have been bombproof for me. My wife also has a pair but she weighs next to nothing so I wouldn't use her experience as a data point. The wheels that I go were great value.
