This is a great opportunity to replace your shift cables, which should be done annually with Shimano shifters because they tend to break them internally and bind up the shifter.
Alcohol makes it easier to slide the hoods over the body,
Part of the problem was I just did all this and didn't want to have to redo it again, ha. I did all the maintenance and then realized how awful the hoods were. (I had the shop do it before I would pay for the bike two weeks ago)
