Kristy Kreme has never really caught on in Houston. Our home grown variety, the aforementioned Shipley’s is pretty competitive here. Hard for others to come in even a name as famous as KK. I have to smile st the idea that KK is the only good donut in America or even the best. Plenty of good ones out there, both chains and independents.
People in our area would make KK runs to other states and bring back van loads to sell for charity or profit or whatever. Then, they opened a KK in Peoria and it closed after a couple years.
Seems they taste better when they're hard to find.
