Plan A was to get out early and beat the heat, but it poured as I was getting ready to leave. Plan B, out at 10:00, exposed me to the heat and humidity of the day. In 53 miles I experienced blazing sun, closed sections of trail, pelting rain, wet and slimy trails, and towards the end, general exhaustion and some bonking. But I live to ride another day......
