I take my time double locking my bike, getting shower stuff out of the locker, taking a shower, getting dressed, making a cup of coffee. What’s the hurry? Bike commuting is a hobby I enjoy. Riding fast is enjoyable. Trudging along is boring. If I was concerned with saving time, I’d just drive to work.
I don't always rush/hurry, but life can get busy and being efficient allows you to have enough time in the day to enjoy biking to/from work. Otherwise, you'll end up in the car... and that's no fun at all.
