Quality of modern Raleigh Record tyres?

Hi.

I am after some tyres for an old Raleigh Chiltern. I have my eye on two. One is a amber walled Schwalbe but the thickness is a little narrow. The other is some Raleigh Record white walled tyres that are correct thickness. I am leaning towards the Raleighs because I wouldn't mind trying white walled but the quality is putting me off. Are they OK? I will be using a pannier with the bike.

When I bought the bike 4 years ago they came with some well worn Raliegh Record amber tyres (probably 20 years old maybe) and the quality looked decent but I know they are made in China now. I bought some Duro amber walled tyres years ago and the rubber was so soft it was shameful, needless to say they were balled within a year and I had no end of punctures with them.

Thanks.
