Sun: Got out real early to the mtn bike area as we were warned the parking gets full. GF and I hadn't been to this place before but it is the largest area in CT so it is well documented and mapped. We did an easy green loop then a few blue trails before heading back. At the end GF decided to take a short trail back and I continued on the blue we were on that would end at the same spot.. famous last words. I got to the end of the trail and my horrible spidey sense got me all turned around. Also the signage pointing towards the parking lot we were at was a small poster on one tree then nothing after that (with 2 turns needed). wandered back and forth on a fire road looking at my garmin's "BEGIN" flag taunting me. Ended up going around far enough that I ended up near the end of that first green trail and at least knew where to go.. followed it the wrong way back (luckily no one came the other way). Dropped me RIGHT back where I had started being lost.. great. This time I ran into some people heading out and followed them. ended up with 5 mi extra getting me to 14mi total. Very happy I have the roadie fitness to deal with that kind of mistake but it was frustrating. Long ass day on the mountain bike but trails were great and we'll go back for sure.
