Truing Thru Axle Wheels
Hello Everyone!
I tried a search using the title's text & came up empty-handed. So here goes.
Yesterday was a day of many "1sts" for me in that:
[1] I bought my 1st bike sight unseen via the Internet.
[2] 1st bike with thru-axles & hydraulic disc brakes.
[3] 1st aluminum bicycle.
[4] 1st bike I've bought with tires larger than 700x25.
[5] 1st bike with wheels that have spawned [a measured] apprehension regarding their truing.
[6] 1st real bike destined for Southern Mexico where I live 1/2 the year.
I expect the wheels to require adjustment to both tension & true out of the box. Perhaps not, but my questions remain.
Other than the fact I'll need adapters for the TS2 stand to accommodate the thru-axle hubs, I was hoping that the learned amongst the Bike Forums crew could offer insight regarding any idiosyncrasies pertaining to the truing of thru-axle wheels, especially with regard to the front wheel that now accommodates a disc, seemingly in the way. I'm not going to take my truing stand/dish tool to Mexico [ever], so I want to get the wheels properly situated prior to their journey south.
Am I making a mountain out of a mole hill?
Is dish just dish?
Is there nothing noteworthy to see here & should I just move along?
Thank you in advance for any input you may provide.
