Saturday, rain was in the forecast, but I got a decent, dry little ride in anyhow, just riding around on the TCX, and up to take a look at a house on the road to Nyack that came up on Zillow - just to see what it was like from the road: interesting. Saw some turkeys engaged in their rituals, and a deer munching on some leaves along the way. 34 miles, 1600'
Yesterday was the big ride: Discover the Hudson Valley. 101 miles, 5600' One of those big, super-organized events with routes for all levels - as little as 18 miles. Fortunately, start times were well staggered, so it was never crowded. The funniest/most luxurious thing was how they had something like nine possible rest stops on the 100 mile course (not all different, four were passed twice). Roads were SUPER quiet. Weather was good - got quite warm, but many of us got all the salty sweat rinsed off by a good, solid rain that came down at the end (last mile or two for me). I totally lucked out with my parking spot: the back half of the car was under a bridge, so I got to stay dry as I disassembled the bike, changed shoes, shirt & socks, packed the trunk.
