It's possible it's just a weak T-nut. (I don't know what Lakes use to secure screws, but that's what's in my bonts..) can you look inside and see to what the screw is affixed? With my bonts it turned out that the points on one of the T-nuts had sheared off so it wouldn't hold torque. Got a new T-nut and all was well.
