Bikes: Handsome Dog Titanium (Work) Santa Cruz Superlight (Play) Kona Stinky (Real Play)

The old rig is a Trek Y-50 which was a limited edition bike in 1997. It was selling for £4599 back then which made it the most expensive bike at the time by a long way. I managed to get it in 2002 for £600 with a load of crap parts but managed to fix it up with some Pace RC36 forks and a complete XTR groupset. Only problem was the URT suspension which worked great on road but off road made the bike ride like a wild stallion. My friends would take the pi$$ out of my riding saying I was no good, I tried to explain it was the bike that was so hard to control. They only believe me now my friend Bert has it and the fact that I can whoop their a$$e$ now on my nice shiny Superlight.

The Superlight has changed my riding quite a bit. Out of a team of 8 or 9 of us I was always somewhere in the middle of the group on rides in Wales, now I'm right at the front all of the time. I know a bad workman always blames his tools but my old tool was busted. It is so much more fun at the front because you HAVE to ride faster so as not to hold anyone up.
