Some of the folks I met riding motorcycles came to be better friends the less time we spent actually riding together. And most of the folks that I found easy to ride with never became friends at all.

In bold truthfully is the entire context of conversation that was missed from the start by the OP not disclosing it was her husband that dropped her...lol.
Can't make this stuff up.
Actually, that is the crux and btw I am sure you guys agree, it is sometimes the case. Married couples struggle at doing certain things together. It maybe a weird competitive construct sneaking in and spoiling the party. Certainly not uncommon. But...could also foretell larger incompatibility issues...sometimes, but not always. Couples work around certain activities. Golf comes to mind which is a frustrating game to begin with.
But...the rub here is this IMO, no significant other or spouse drops a significant other in the middle of nowhere on a ride without some kind of agreement either going in or during the ride. So most of us I am sure believe she is right to be upset big time. Forgive me, but her husband is a...you fill in the blank.
