Recommendations? Thanks.
For years I’ve used various 3-4 aaa cell headlamps in conjunction with handlebar mounted headlamp, dyno or battery. They’re useful for looking to the side at things that might enter the roadway or looking ahead around an intersection. Downside is in fog or rain you’re somewhat blinded by illuminated water drops right in front of your face. I just bought a Fenix rechargeable headlamp with focusable beam and it’s the best thing so far. It’s very bright and at high settings I recharge it every other day. Low level every four days. Daily commutting. No way around it, lots of lumens means battery drain. I haven’t used it in a downpour and am wary of the micro-usb rubber socket cover.
Not cheap at $70 but worth it for the focusable beam. Black Diamond with 4 aaa batts is good. 300lumens in a tight beam is good for night riding. Low level wide beam good for walking, close illumination and long battery use.
