I had no idea what I was doing . . . 7,832 bike shops in NYC . . . where to go?? d-i-z-z-y-i-n-g
One of my congregants recommeded visiting a fellow named KC at Larry & Jeff's Bike Shop on 87th & 2nd Avenue. I was treated incredibly well . . . KC literally spent hours with me over numerous visits . . . At most other shops I was either ignored or pressued -- e.g., "this is great," "you're gonna fall in love with this," "oh - THOSE guys' bikes -- they're junk! -- we don't carry them!" KC never pushed anything, one way or the other -- just kept me riding different models and asked lots of questions.
I asked lots of questions right back, mostly stupid, no doubt -- and even messed up the chain on one of the bikes I test rode -- but KC never lost his cool. I ended up buying a Specialized Sirrus, which I definitely would not have even tried had he not sent me out on it -- I absolutely love it.
And the price was great.
Great experience, start to finish. If you're in NYC, call them: 212-722-2201
