Why not? I have three knock offs (Rock Bros) from ebay at about $5.99 each. I rang once on a night ride. The clear sound would have gone to the moon if space weren't a vacuum, and every dog in the neighborhood started barking when they heard it.
But the bell I like best is the ching-a-ling Bell bell from Walmart at $5.99. It's like carrying a puppy. People love hearing it when I use it on the bike paths, Must remind them of their youth when they rode trik es with the same bell.
