As the bike position changes, body position could possibly change. It might help relieve some of the uncomfortableness that siting in the same spot for long periods of time. After about two hours on the trainer, my rear starts hurting.
Even in a stationary position, one can still ride on the front, middle or back of the saddle. I get out of the saddle every so often just as one the road to alleviate pressure. I would think that the front end moving up and down would create more of a propensity for chafing.
