Well, there are amateur racers to whom that would definitely seem important. Things are important or not important to different people, and 1 MPH might be worth a lot of money to someone for reasons I just don't happen to share.
But, as has been talked to death on numerous threads, you are very likely to get much better increases in speed by losing some pounds and getting in better shape than the ones you get from changes in equipment.
