None of that - on its own - is useful. But, a couple years ago, I had a theory - that the percentage of max HR was the significant number - to track, target, etc. I asked the question on an MTB race forum - "What % of your max HR do you average for a 2-hour (common XC format) race." Despite the age differences, the percentage of racers max HR was very similar - 92%.
No way. 90-93% is what a typical well-trained person can do for an hour, more or less their lactate threshold. No way on Earth they're doing that for 2 hours straight. They either don't know their max hr, or they're just taking numbers they see during the race and claiming that's their average.
