One thing I would caution against is positioning the brake lever and gear shifter (especially a trigger shifter) too close to the grips. You can see here that the gear levers overlap the grip, which is problematic.

It is nicer, for me at least, to have a grip hand position at the end of the bars, with a 20mm spacer (I used a 20mm piece of Ergon foam after this pic was taken) between the brake lever and the grip, so that you slide your hands up to change but can still brake from your end position. Getting the shift levers away from your thumb and forefinger helps with comfort.
