I would want something less likely to rust. But maybe that’s not too big a deal. I lived on my bike for the first three years of college. It was a GS 200 level Novara from the end of the full Shimano groupset era. I guess it must have had decent weather seals on the bearings because I can’t remember ever using anything but lots of WD-40 on it. I never worried about cleaning the chain because it rained a lot. It succumbed to a bent fork.
