For the OP, almost exactly what you're asking about...
My mid-fork eyelets are pretty high and the standard struts barely reach. There's also a slight possibility that you could have some interference between the rack and your yoke, depending on how low your straddle cable is. Here's the limit of that illustrated on a different bike with a custom rack built by [MENTION=381793]gugie[/MENTION].
The Nitto rack is wider at the back, but can be pushed forward depending on your strut length constraints.
In any event, I give the front rack + handlebar bag my highest recommendation. It's worth some trouble to make it work. Someone more expert than myself might comment on how it interacts with touring geometry.
