I wouldn't bother with the Acetone. It's going to be too fast of a solvent, which means you'll have very little time to work with it and will have to use a LOT of it.

Spray-on paste paint stripper is easiest and fastest. See if you can bring some back from NV next time you go to Vegas or something. Make sure you wear multiple sets of gloves and maybe painter's coveralls, unless you enjoy being burned by solvent and caustic. Mild abrasion can be effected through use of Scotch-Brite green pads.

Post-cleanup with CRC Brake Cleaner (the old-school stuff with trichloroethylene) works the best.

Obviously, do the work outside or in a ventilated area.

Full disclosure - was able to strip dysfunctional chromovelato off of an Ideor yesterday afternoon, in about two hours - using the above materials and methods.
