Wish I'd gotten a pic in Colorado years ago when I saw two riders heading up the western approach to the Monarch Pass (about 11,000' elevation at the top) on U.S. 50 with large backpacks on. Backpack bicyclists be crazy.
No we like to do it the easy way. I rode a 2700 mile trip in 2010 with 40 pounds in a backpack. In 2013 the same setup for 1700 miles. 2014, the same setup for 5400 miles. I would only do it with a real backpack, aka hipbelt. No hipbelt, no way.
