I've had excellent results removing the straps on my shoes and installing laces. I can lace the shoes tighter without pressure points and ensure my foot isn't going to slide forward, cramming my toes. (I ride toes down naturally.)

You can get the grommets and everything else you will need at Tandy Leather. (Get the two piece brass grommets, not the aluminum ones. I drilled the holes but you can also get punches.)
