When we wear clothes in ‘society’ we do so understanding that said clothing has an effect on people. These effects can be very severe (wearing a swastika in a Jewish neighbourhood) to not so severe (wearing a polka-dot jersey and not being able to climb).
Sadly, the world cannot be explained by such naïve sweeping statements as ‘life is short- wear what you want’.
Hence the validity of the original post.
