Can You Turn A Front Suspension Fork Into A Non Suspension Fork?
Hey guys. I enjoy riding my cheap $100 mountain bikes into the ground and they hold up pretty well. My latest 26" Schwinn Sidewinder that I got for about $125 has taken a more than daily beating for over three years now with zero issues. Now here is the issue. It's almost impossible to find cheap mountain bikes these days that don't have a front suspension fork. Luckily mine doesn't have a rear suspension (which I hated in the past because I felt it took away from the power of my stroke) Anyway, I know with the front suspension forks you can't have a bike basket that has arms that come down from the basket to the wheel axle because the moving of the suspension can make the top of the basket attachment bend or rip away. I've never oiled or maintained my front suspension because I care nothing about it. I think there is even a good chance it's stuck without movement since I never feel it go up or down. Is it possible to make it a " non suspension " fork and just glue in and around the insertion point of the fork suspension area so that it's permanently not mobile so that i can put a bike basket with arms on it? Do you think this word work and if so, what kind of glue? I want to make it a non suspension fork without replacing the fork. Ive been carrying heavier items in my bike basket so really want the kind with the arms soon. Thanks!
