I regret I didn't ride yesterday. It didn't rain here. I took the subway from work to the blood center. The platforms are really hot in September because the air conditioned trains put heat into the tunnels, and the tunnels hold the heat for a month after the weather cools off.
I didn't want to get on the subway after my blood donation, so I looked for a Citi Bike bike. There were no bikes anywhere near, so I walked a fair bit in the wrong direction to get one. I walked into the area near the UN where there is a summit going on. There were thousands of police officers and vehicles everywhere, controlling and redirecting traffic. The scene is difficult to imagine if you haven't seen it. Being on foot, I was not encumbered. I eventually got a bike and rode to my neighborhood pizza place for dinner. It was hot and humid, and I was wearing long pants and a dress shirt, so my sweat was pretty uncomfortable. I didn't have a helmet, and I feel very mixed about that, but I don't let not having one stop me from riding.
This morning the temperature dropped back down to the low 60s. I wore cycling clothes, including a wool jersey. I was cold at first and eventually got hot and sweaty, but sweating in a wool jersey in low temperature is not bad at all. It was really nice to be back on my bike after skipping two days. The headwind was furious, but I didn't mind.
