Personally though...I've used many pairs of flat pedals and the most comfortable pedals I've used are Dmr Vaults:

They were not remotely cheap. I held onto the box etc when I bought them because I thought I might return them. Instead they turned out to be the most comfortable bike pedals I've ever used. I'm more comfortable on my bike than I am walking around in my regular shoes.

It looks like they released a new version of the pedal that doesn't have weird colored pins but at the moment it's only available in the UK:
