I too have done the Mazama Store to the top of the pass. I had intended to work Rainy Pass as well, but forgot adequate water and the temp was in the 80's at the time. I settled for a few pictures & great conversations of amazement from tourists at the look-out instead. The trip down was a blast. I just chilled at 30mph until I got to the bottom, narrowly missing a deer along the way.
Hart's Pass! Now that is a different animal. I attempted it on my rigid 1997 Trek 6500ZX after doing a full 2x11 XTR upgrade. The 90+ degree heat nearly killed me and when I got dizzy from heat stress and exhaustion I abandoned my attempt. Getting moving going down hill really helped cool me down in the evaporation department, but the washboard was so bad I barely was able to hold on. Jimmy has RockShox Recon forks now because of this ride. To conquer Hart's Pass ought to be on every cyclists bucket list.
Looks like you had a great ride. I'm inspired to give it another go in the future.
