I had a 1986 City Express. I bought it new and got 15-ish, years out of it. This was an original "City Bike". The 1987 model got a triple crankset & index shifters. The rear solid (Nutted) axle & riveted. (40-50) tooth crankset was pretty tough. It does have a shorter wheelbase & marginally lighter than the very first MTB's. cheers
