+1 here. Acetone is my go-to product for removing any type of sticky residue from metal or aluminum. Softens the residue and lets you wipe it right off. Goo Be Gone is the safer, milder alternative but I’ve found it not as effective as acetone. I do use Goo Be Gone to remove things like stickers from plastic ware and such. I’ve tried rubbing alcohol and did not find it to work at all.
