Yes - I think this was the one. It was the late '90's, it was a yellow K2, and it had an elastomeric shock just behind the seat tube. I was thrilled to be able to fly downhill in reasonable comfort - felt like riding my couch compared to the rigid bike. My buddy was with me and we were both on well-used rental bikes - he had a little problem when he drove the rear brake pad through the worn-out rim and into the tube! After a long walk back to the bike shop in the base area he got a new(er) bike and we were off again.
