Your best option is learn to love your Microshift barcons. As other posters have stated, conversion to brake-shifters (aka brifters) would be costly, additionally the brake calipers on
Surly DT are the long-cable-pull / MTB version, so you'd also need new short-cable-pull brake calipers for compatibility with brifters. You're looking at $300-400 cost, possibly less if your LBS is willing to swap parts.
