Some "before" pics as found at the Bike exchange

We get a lot of bikes donated to the Bike Exchange. Some are hardly worth fixing up to donate out to our clients while others turn out to be diamonds in the rough. These bikes have often been languishing in garage rafters for years until their owners realize they are never going to ride them again and decide to donate them to us.

This bike is one of those gems. It came home with me for some special love.

The bike was stripped down to the frame and deep cleaned ( I ‘m talking tooth brushes and Q tips) . All bright work was soaked in vinegar to remove surface corrosion then buffed and polished.

The paint was judiciously touched up and the frame and fork rubbed out with white polishing compound and given a coat of wax.

Head set, wheel, and bottom bracket bearings were cleaned and/ or replaced and re greased before being re installed and adjusted.

New cables and covers installed for brakes and derailleurs.

Tubes checked for leaks then installed in newly polished rims.

New handle bar tape installed.

Custom Frame. 63 cm seat tube. Champion Butted tubing. Forged Campi Dropouts. Fender and rack eyelets. Extra studs on fork crown for front rack. Chrome chainstay protector. 126 mm rear dropouts spacing. ( frame weight minus all fittings is 4.5 lbs approx. All up weight as shown 24.6 lb.

Headset – Tange

Stem and bars – Cinelli , with Shimano Aero levers.

Crank – Sugino AT triple with 170 mm crank arms.

Seat post - SR Laprade with Vitesse Racing Saddle

Brakes - Shimano

Downtube shifters - Suntour Superbe?

Derailleurs - Front Suntour Superbe, rear Suntour VGT Luxe

Freewheel - Suntour 14-30

Wheels - Aluminum 27 x 1 1/4” drilled for Presta stems

Hubs - Miche Competition

Tires rear Specialized Tri Sport , front Kenda (new)
