I worked on a peugeot shop in the 80s and saw the transition from lugged bikes to lugless. Peugeot obviously believed in the technology. At the shop, we used to have cut up versions of the joints from the various bikes to show how the quality of the joining process. Peugeot was not a stickler for the finishing on the outside (unlike the Italian bikes for example that were typically beautiful on the outside) but it did care about things that mattered from good quality wheels and well made frames. From my experience, I think the lugless bikes hold up well but I prefer the look of a lugged frame. I'd love to find a UO 10 in my size. I find tons of UO 8s but I've yet to see a UO 10 on my local CL.
