I'll add that cleaning a bike with hose-directed water is not the best method. Consider less forceful means, like sponging, wiping, and brushing.

I see a lot of bikes donated to the non-profit shops with frozen shifter innards, and shifter cables frozen in housings. Usually applying a few drops of lube in the right place brings them back to life.
