Cottered crank can be a PITA to service, plastic Simplex derailleurs are horrible (particularly the FD, (in the last ten years, I haven't come across a single FD where the clamp was not cracked), etc. Motobecane also made higher level mixtes with mostly Japanese components and higher level frames.
When I come across a mixte at that level (bottom end), I will buy and donate.
It is helpful to list your location in your profile. A bike that might be worth $25 here, could be worth $150 in Toronto.
Thanks for the info and suggestion. I'm in northern NJ, so the market is pretty good around here.
Yeah, I'm thinking the mixte is kind of a push. I believe it is a '76 Nomade Sprint, which was bottom shelf for Motobecane. I paid $45 for it, and once the needed parts/work are finished it will be worth not much more than I have into it. If my wife likes it, maybe I'll swap out the derailleurs. I had a feeling it wasn't any great bargain.
On the Fuji, I paid $50, so it was a good deal. It fits me quite well. I will probably fix it and keep it.
