Enjoyed the new addition to the fleet Roberts, so here is one of my Roberts. I purchased this from Chas on a trip to England in 1985. Had one of dad’s bikes a touring model bought from Hallet’s in Albuquerque in 1979. Took the touring bike to NZ via London, and rode down to Chas’s shop in 1984. The first thing he said was that’s one of my dad’s bikes! Had him build a club bike while in NZ, number on Cinelli bottom bracket is 84 51. Then went back in 1985 for some serious railfanning, a 3 week trip to China, and East Germany. Lot’s of steam! Anyway had another frame built, one that Chas said would be comfortable for long rides as opposed to criteriums. Still have them all, lovely bikes and some nice memories. I remember Chas telling me that your true standing as a builder sometimes was based on if you were slagged enough!
