Its a cartridge, you have to remove both sides of the crank. It's not going to come out the non-drive side. Sometimes the cartridge is attached to the ND cup. When this is the case, the cup alone is not coming out.

Typically its attached to the drive side.

Either way the entire crankset must come off first.

This is going off your limited description with no mention of removing the drive side crank.
